Polly’s Backyard Pizza Party

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my recent post about a backyard pizza party that I styled for my friend, Padgett. She wanted to have a casual birthday party for a friend whose favorite food is pizza. We thought an outdoor pizza party was the perfect way to celebrate! The weather was perfect, so we set the table outdoors.

Today, I want to share some helpful links and tips to help you create your own backyard pizza party. Let’s get started!

Party Prep

The tables were casually set using burlap table runners, traditional white plates, and hyacinth chargers. We added black and white gingham napkins (they reminded me of a pizza shop that I visited as a child!) and a sprig of rosemary from Padgett’s garden to each plate. The florals are from Shaun O’Dwyer Flowers & Event Design.

We set an epic grazing table filled with fresh prosciutto and fig jam as well as antipasti, meatballs, and roasted dates from Antonio’s Italian Market. I grabbed pots of fresh basil, tomatoes on the vine, and artichokes from Whole Foods. Of course, we also included pizza oils and spices from Williams Sonoma. I added everything to a huge wooden custom charcuterie board too. As a finishing touch, I filled Marazano tomato cans with fresh flowers and Italian breadsticks.

Each guest had rolled-out pizza dough and added their personal topping selections. Then, we used two Ooni ovens to cook the pizzas. We enjoyed the pizza with wine and lots of laughs. Buono!

Special Details for Your Backyard Pizza Party

The food was so colorful (so much bright green and vibrant red!), so white flowers were a perfect backdrop. There were aprons available that matched the napkins, but the solid black aprons were perfect for monogramming. I wanted a rustic Italian feel, so I used wood serving pieces in all shapes and sizes with varying heights. Old wine crates helped elevate the pots of basil and tomatoes, turning this party from basic to bellissimo!
